How do you attract the humming birds to feed? I've had a my first and a new feeder hanging near my patio for a couple days now but no activity yet. Can you help me?

i wish i could help you. not sure if it's my area or what. i'm pretty lucky that sometimes they just hover around the deck at times. even when i'm outside in plain view. not sure if it's the same few or not.
i don't feed any animals. it could quickly turn bad with animals we should never feed. bears for example, instead of deer and such.

I love hummingbirds! I have a pic of one with a message on my profile.
But I don't think it's the sort of bird that comes in your garden to feed?

on another note, i'm not certain why those birds zoom through and around sometimes.
thinking about it, is it possible you might have better luck developing a green thumb? nectar is certainly an attraction for more than just bees. humming birds have a special design to them for brunching on such.
I've always had hummingbirds around, I don't have a feeder out. I just open my garage door, they fly in my garage and keep looking at the red handle safety release on my garage door opener... ... I was down there earlier today and got buzzed, they get really close to me...
If you haven't had a feeder out before, it might just take time for them to discover it, once they do they won't forget either, keep feeding them... are they in your area year long? otherwise stop feeding them before winter... I think that's what I've heard...
I was in Nova Scotia a few years ago for a week at a cabin and there was a hummingbird feeder out on the deck and the birds hung out there all day long. I couldn't get one to pitch on my hand but they fly right up to my face no matter how much pot I was smoking. There was a few of us at the cabin, the birds wouldn't go near anyone else but they trusted me for some reason. Maybe they liked my bald head, who knows

Who know lol, all I know is those birds loved me and didn't mind smoke either. I want a bird feeder here out by the door but it would just be a buffet for the cats so I don't bother.
Looking at your picture I see 2 potential problems 1, the feeder might be too close to that wall thus fear of being attacked, maybe move it away from any structure. 2, that water hose looks like a snake and could be frightening them away. I've had a Hummingbird feeder hanging from my clothesline for at least 15 years, in fact I saw a Hummer at it just today.
One more thing. Hummers head to warmer climes when the weather turns cold, maybe they just haven't come back to your area yet. BTW, what are you putting in that feeder?

Nerf gun!! You can play with it all day then....doubt there would be much humming though
I'm joking, I'm against animal or bird cruelty
Sit there it your hand out and bird feed on... Sprinkle some just in front of you so it gets close then after a while if you don't move or talk then he might just trust you. Robins do it so I'm sure a hummingbird would.

Well, I do plan on shooting the humming birds, using my better camera.
