Tell Me Why (6)

I was just watching a news story online. They were interviewing female fire fighters who posed for a calendar. The photographer made a comment. She said she didn't have the ladies pose in bikinis because she didn't want them to feel exploited. So, the calendar wasn't sexy in that way. Is it me, or is there something wrong here?

It seems to me, you could have a group of male fire fighters posing for a similar calendar. They're posing with no shirts and showing off six packs. Yet, no women would have anything negative to say about it. They enjoy the eye candy. Why is it that when the situation favors women it's not seen as a bad thing? There's no talk of being exploited or objectified.

On the other hand, these female fighter calendars are eye candy for men, and at least some women would take offense to them. I don't see anything offensive about admiring gorgeous women. It's certainly not offensive for women vice versa. Personally, I think it's the same thing.

What do you think? conversing

Why would a female firefighter pose in a bikini anywaydunno Surely that would defeat the whole purpose of the theme which is presumably firefighters.

Is there any information about the gender pay gap in USA in general and per state? Per profession? For these particular female fire fighters? That can be a part of the answer.

I'm wondering why there are ladies who would take offense to a man admiring a women physically. They would say that men look at women like a piece of meat. Well, if that's the case, why is it they have no problem doing the same to male firefighters? Can somebody explain this to me?dunno
