Watching television to witness the violent invasion the Capitol building captured his imagination for 187 minutes of inaction. Many are surprised by Trump's inability or unwillingness to do anything while the Capitol police were be assaulted and Congressional lawmakers where stalked and threatened by armed vigilante terrorists. I would expect that the Trump administration was not surprised by his inaction on an 6, 2021. Doing nothing was what Trump does best. He talks - alot. He gives orders - to devoted followers. He watches television - especially Fox 'News'. And of course - he eats - alot. That pretty much sums up the entire four years of the Trump presidency. Trump did nothing for four years. Why are we surprised that he did nothing on January 6, 2021? It was normal.

Nothing allowed his followers to believe that he fraudulently lost the election - which was a huge lie.
Nothing allowed Americans to watch as the democracy they believed in came very close to crumbling.
Nothing is what Trump did for four years.
Nothing is what Trump cares about the American citizens.
Nothing is the amount of voters who put faith in Trump as a leader.

Trump attacked Sarah Mathews today by saying "Sarah Mathews, I never met her', although there are photos of the two together.
Trump has denied knowing pretty much everyone who has said anything about his antics during his four chaotic years in the White House. Pretty soon Trump will say: "Donald Trump - I never met him" as he denigrates the character who has destroyed his career and made a mockery of American politics.

Add dereliction of duty to all his other crimes, any one of which would be sufficient to bar him from holding office, and some of which should result in criminal indictment. The CiC failed/refused to do his duty, resulting in death, disability, and emotional trauma to those present. The whole country was stunned and horrified.
He wanted his MAGA misfits to be allowed to continue their mayhem, with the eventual result of stopping the certification of the vote. If not accomplished by midnight, that would have thrown the country into a Constitutional crisis. Our Founding Fathers made no provision for a president who would not respect the peaceful transfer of power. Trump's evil is on an order of magnitude they did not foresee.
Trump will not be allowed to get away with this treachery.
Experts are predicting the Georgia investigation may result in the first criminal charges. The long recorded phone call is a prosecutor's dream. There's no defense for Trump trying to wheedle, whine, and threaten Georgia election officials into throwing him votes that were lawfully cast for President Biden.

The Save America Defense Fund has collected a boatload of money with the encouragement of the former ex-fake and obese president who knows that the fund does not exist.
Nationally, the political action committee had received $45.28 million contributions from individual donors from late 2020 through June 30, 2022.
Most of these donors actually believe that the money is going to pay legal fees for defendants arrested and charged in the January 6, 2021 insurrection.
Save America has disbursed millions of its donations to pro-Trump organizations and other services – including $59,953 for car rentals, $2.1 million to the Trump Hotel and $5,000 to the Kari Lake for Arizona campaign, according to the FEC.
