This was not just an accident. She drove her car into the side of a house. Bystanders pulled the car out and she drove off at a very high speed into another house destroying that house and nearly killing the woman who lived in that house.
She suffered significant burns in the crash. On Thursday, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that a blood test showed Heche was under the influence of narcotics at the time, and another law enforcement source told The Times that Heche's initial blood test showed cocaine in her system.
Most actors have had a traumatising childhood. That's why they are good at playing characters, trying to gain power over their fears. But that doesn't help them be wiser and deal with their real problems. There's no excuse for them. And definitely no more sympathy for them then the children from the getho who were sold to peados by their own mothers .
rohaan: Taken off Life Support, died yesterday. Any thought or comments....
I'd be a bit more sympathetic if she was young and/or something awful had happened recently which I don't know about. 53 is old and I don't care what our geriatric, deaths door society says. At any rate I'm more into rehabilitating addicts when the addiction was the crime. People are addicted to cocaine they're not addicted to driving on cocaine, there is a difference. And yet I would prefer this to doing the same thing sober. I wouldn't know where to begin with someone who did this sober.

And in no way is driving like a lunatic part and parcel with feeding an addiction. Yes I'm sure it affects your judgement but it's still not the same as stealing to buy drugs. It's extra to drive like that you're not forced into doing it because you're addicted. Your responsibility is diminished, I wouldn't quite treat them the same as someone who did this with their best thinking cap on, but it's not forgiven.
Although considering she's dead we can't really ask for any more punishment than that. She's paid the price and then some so I am sympathetic from that point of view. The only consolation is that this is not the folly of youth but happened to someone whose best years are behind them. What the ancient regime calls young is nothing of the kind thank God.
James Dean counts as the folly of youth and what was that? 24. I think that even in today's infantilised world under the ancient regime, 35 would be a stretch.
We should do that although I realize the battle that sympathy is in an awful time. You either will have sympathy for the less fortunate or you won't have sympathy for the less fortunate, no half measures. Mind you I'd be the first to admit that I know absolutely nothing about Ann Heche. I would prefer her to be alive but id say that about anyone.
Ann had a horrible childhood...not really surprised b her death...sad for he 2 boys...this can be looked at as a lesson...do not drive when impaired...perhaps she wanted to end her life?...Wish her peace...
That is the real problem here... Trying hard to find an excuse, be overly sympathetic and feel sorry at any cost. No wonder someone wise said, The road to hell is paved with good intentions... There is nothing wrong with calling a spade a spade...for a change!
Mercedes_00: Anne had cocaine in her system..That doesn't mean she was off her guts on the day of the accident
Could of had a medical episode..Could of been something wrong with the car
I'm sure the house was insured..The only person harmed was Anne herself
Is this a joke ? Not only did she put herself in danger , but the general public also . She was so hi on coke, anybody within close proximity could have been killed . You can’t justify in indefensible.
Whilst I empathise with the situation of her life struggles and recent passing, I have a concern for the persons who would receive the organs that were donated (it was reported that she was an organ donor). Wouldn't the cocaine that was in her system have affected all of her organs, thus making them 'unsafe' for others to receive as transplants? Just wondering...
Didi7: Thanks jac, I guess the doctors know what they're doing...
Hopefully the ones involved in organ transplantation do, although there is that tricksie dilema about when death occurs that no one seems to have solved yet.

Alcohol is not to blame for this "accident".
