Assuming the next Dark Age doesn't happen, there no way to tell what 500 years from now will be like. Consider the WWII generation expected flying cars and we got mechanical bureaucracy (computers).
I get your point but in hindsight flying cars was such a stupid idea I guess nobody thought of what it takes to learn to fly it's a lot more difficult than driving a car. Not to mention people would have to get a pilots license and where the hell would they be able to land the damn thing? If that's not enough, where would you park it.

I have commercial-instrument fixed wing and rotorcraft. You could park it in your driveway and the economy and ecosystem would've have saved a lot on roads. The idea failed on energy. We have hardly enough gas for cars.
500 years from now we will all be no more than dust. There is no eternal life we are all just wormfood when we die. Make the most of this life while you have it cus there is nothing else after it.
