jac_the_gripper: I had a photo of my hair as my main pic removed at lightening speed, too.
I liked your profiles with your hair, who cares what you look like now, I get attached to the feel (mentally) of people. yeh maybe in another life, naaaaaaah
It's people's business what they choose to do with their profile..If it bothers people in search of Mr or Mrs right I suggest stating on ones profile not interested in communicating unless a member has a photo to be seen on one's profile
In regard to admin interfering with pictures on members profiles you will find it's because members have reported our pictures..I had my tongue sticking out at a Xmas party the mods cropped my tongue off.
If your not liked on the forums or blogs they report you whether it be by posts or pics
jac_the_gripper: It seems people make assumptions whether someone has a photo, an out of date photo (like myself), or no photo.
Having some kind of picture makes it easier for visual people (like myself) to navigate their way around blogs/forums/mail, etc.
I'm not bothered about what that picture is.
Your main profile pic, Tulefell, doesn't match the site requirement of a clear face shot, or no photo at all, but when I see that red canoe I know it's you straight away. I really hope the site owners don't have a purge (as they sometimes do) and remove your illegitimate photo, whatever your reason for having it.
Well... once upon a time I had my photo with a hat as the main picture and the moderation changed it to some other from my gallery, informing that the hat picture cannot be main. No explanation why. So I chose the second one - in the kayak -, that I consider represents me well.
Actually, I chose all those pictures because I think that they say something about me. Not only about my appearance from different angles, but about my character and interests. It's a visual introduction.
Of course, people are free to choose whether to use this feature. And they are also free to choose whether to explain their choices.
And yes, I agree that it's easier to recognize a poster with a photo and decide whether to waist time on reading their post.
Ten_of_cupss: Well, some people say don't judge the book by the cover. I do not agree with it. The cover always says more than one would admit. If you are on a motorbike, wear an Iron Maiden t-shirt or have a pint of beer in front of your face, I'll know immediately there is something that will not go well with me.
Yes, I absolutely agree with it. The cover matters - it's an introduction to one's world. A picture has a vibe that you might like or dislike. A blank square has nothing.
Tulefell: I am aware of female profiles without pictures, but I am not interested in them, hence, the exclusion.
Gentlemen without picture, do your really look like the phantom image: a square singular chin, a reliable neck, a head full of hair?
Or do you fancy a number of chins and a scull like a billiard ball? In that case, the phantom is too flattering, the absence of the real photo is misleading and, actually, is a sign of a cowardly soul.
Wadda you think?
When humans look for partners, they look first at their physical features.
