Horses do have a personality and if you do ride you'd best know it's traits John. Bucking bronco's are just not funny.grin

No , horses don’t have personalities, unless you can tell me otherwise .
There are horses with kind souls & there are horses with bad attitudes.

Check it out and see the posts on the web with regards this John. Some of the ones I've known and stabled have been very different in their attitudes to different people and also each other actually.

it can also depend on the breed too.

Yes, you do have to know something about the horse you're riding...
His background, his sensitivity, his attitude and his likes and dislikes.

I've worked with traumatised horses that needed rehab.

Some were hand shy because they had been beaten...

Some didn't like the pull on the bit..

Some didn't like the kick of the heels..

Etc etc.

I had a very bad accident 9 years ago and was thrown off because I was riding a young mare who was very sensitive to noise.

That was my last time riding.

As I said , they have different attitudes towards different people. I’m not saying that horses are not intelligent, but saying they have a personality is pushing it a bit .
