Here, in Spain, the common practice for men and women is hug and kisses.
Regardless if it's in the street, shops, business or private.

In France, either handshake (for strangers), or 3 kisses if you know the person.

In Germany, handshake only.

Now, I'm talking about the common custom in the country.

But, when in Spain, they all end up hugging and kissing.

Something to do with the weather?

Warmth and affection is certainly catching! dancing

hmmm are these customs expressed greetings with family friends, church leaders, politicians, everyone at work no matter where you are. Do you all that way no matter where you are... say you are in a public restroom or confessional etc.

Good question..
I don't know about church leaders, because I don't meet those people.
When outside the church, in private, yes they do hug.

Politicians also do.

Restroom? You mean in the toilets? confused
Do you conduct a business, or have private meetings in such places?uh oh

If it's a business meeting I shake their hand whether it's a man or woman without words.
If someone is introducing me in a social atmosphere I say hello
I used to be a hugger but not anymore except for family members.

When I said in Spain, it also applies to South American countries.

Now, you can't compare being with a gf, and people/friends you meet in the street.

I was brought up in France where we all kissed 3x when meeting.

It varies from person to person and situation to situation. For example, informal situations (friends and relatives) - wave, hi/hello, hug. Formal situations (others) - handshake, "Good day/morning/afternoon/night", slight bow/nod head.
