A few years after that pic was taken the owner sold the buildings to the Federal Govt and we had to find a new place to live along with 39 other families. The 5 buildings were torn down and a huge post office with loading docks for trucks was built on the site. 40 families kicked out to build a freakin post office and hardly anybody mails anything anymore. Can you imagine how much 40 apartments in the Yorkville section of Manhattan would earn these days? Try 1/4 of a Million dollars a year is my guess.

It cost 3 cents to mail a letter back then and 1 cent for a post card.NAKEDMUDPEOPLE: Dogs can be a deterrent and much safer than a gun.

I kind of assumed that it was a property owned by the rail road company at the time and leased out to workers

Surely we should house the many homeless humans in our cities before gifting dogs apartments. How would they refill the electricity metre anyway
At the dog house for the next 5 days, she will get her arthritis meds,

Dogs should have space to run around. My opinion is no under most circumstances, but as you say there are variables. Plus, it surely beats the alternative for strays, shelter dogs, etc.
