Super-annoying and pretentious. It somehow symbolically captures the utter mindlessness of many young women. Never have so many mindless creatures been so incredibly arrogant - their self-view inflated beyond all reckoning by today's fantasy "you go girl" culture.

On the one hand we live in an extravert world that is on the other hand socially crippled. A product of this is to wear such deliberate disguises in a caricature of not caring. People are not at all relaxed that's the whole point. Social cripples in an extravert world that requires you to be totally at ease with strangers, and completely divorced from familiars, whilst being uncomfortable in your own skin at the same time.

It shows up in men and women but I think it's much harder for women to live in this world. Women are more evolved for deep relationships with other people in a society where the majority of people you meet, you already know. They're evolved to be much more suspicious of anyone they do not know already, evolved to read deeper into slight and insults.. as the people twice as likely to be suffering from anxiety disorder, their main aim is to appear not to be suffering from anxiety disorder. The lady doth protest too much, me thinks

And I reckon the dating game has a hand in this. Imagine if you could read most people like a book, and not a very good book, how blase you'd become then?

But blase is vulnerable to the things it can't have. And sensitive when she can't quite figure out what you meant by that. I think vocal fry is the blase of a culture deeply impacted by convenience. You are kind of jaded and spoilt, spoilt by luxury itself, but profoundly self-conscious at the same time.

I mean it's mostly a thing for American teenagers who have all the fast-food culture of instant-gratification, with almost none of the work. It's a situation analogous to the woman on a date, and not a very good date.

The body language of the men behind the guy is so loud.
I did actually hesitate which word to use to describe them, "men" kind of doesn't fit much, neither does "boys"...
The defensive posture and the stone like face... Yeah, not much of a mystery here...
And the "poster" girl behind.
They sum it up pretty easily.
Then the frustrated guy, old fashioned type despite the obvious age.
It shows what a massive difference the weakness made to our society in just few years.

Upspeak also, that's kind of irritating. It's like turning every statement into a question. Maybe a sign of lack of confidence, almost seeking affirmation for what is said.
It's like you will believe me more if I like talk like this.

Dont even get me on the topic of like the overuse of the word like.....laugh

I watching some old show with my parents - set in the Sixties, think - where this guy said, "I like, like you man." I guess they never looked back. : "Like" is the new "You Know."

So...moving forward...it's a lot...100%! Out of an abundance of caution...we should limit our cappin'! :) Not to cast shade on these phrases. Maybe "like, like, like, like..." isn't so terrible, comparative speaking.
