... In the year 2000, which is not that long ago at all; Tom Joe Murphy of Knockanore, Co. Waterford, was going about his business on his farm land. During some digging and clearing, Tom Joe noticed something in the ground and began to pull it out. Over time, pieces of this wood were unearthed.
In October 2018, a sample of the wood was sent to Mr. David Brown of Queens University, Belfast, where 605 annual growth rings were counted. The Brian Boru oak tree in Tomgraney, County Clare is at least 1,000 years old. In my nature reserve I have the honour of having the tallest Crab Apple Tree in Ireland. And I Love trees and I'm a tree hugger.
