Stalin died peacefully in his sleep and Jesus got nailed to a cross. That's why talk about the afterlife that we know nothing about. Stalin goes to hell, Jesus goes to heaven.. all's fair in the end, although obviously not, but still it's a comforting delusion.

Isn't the very idea of Christianity that someone else died for your sins? You escape the punishment you deserve, and agree that you deserve, because someone took it for you?

This is very much the core of Christianity.

It's not complicated that's the devil's talk. Jesus died for our sins and we are saved not by our actions but our belief in him. Pretty sure you go to hell unless you tell the devil that you are guilty and deserving of the worst he could do to you, and then Jesus saves you. We are all rotten fruits to be saved by Jesus.

No. The core of christianity is that you should change your life a 180 degrees and after that your main purpose of life is to serve the will of God. That's it.
Most of us don't do that, for one reason or another.

If we're very lucky it's enough to just die a sinner...
but I'm not sure it's so safe to just gamble on that "no action policy".

I'm on that trajectory myself, and if I don't make a change in time I expect to be rejected at the gates of heaven. To be honest. But I sure would like to get in, tell you that.
Ofcourse it's all in the hands of Jesus.

And actually I quite like that about Christianity that it all boils down to confession doing the least narcissistic thing you could possibly do - which is to view yourself as to blame, and not try to save your own skin.

And that is exactly the sort of thing that catches out the evil that was a clever swine like Stalin. All of Stalin's life was to create an illusion of Mr humble, Mr reasonable.. how can I fool you into believing I am good? But it is precisely this trying to save yourself and your self-image that you burn for.

All bad deeds begin with bad thoughts. If deed is to be stopped, then thoughts have to be stopped first. Every bad thought arises from bad feelings. If thought is to be stopped, then feelings have to be stopped first. The only way to stop any feeling is not to react to it, just to watch it.
