The anonymity of the internet.
What can I say?
It has it's most serious side where the world, and i do not feel i am exaggerating, would be a much different place if it did not exist without it: Anonymity.
To this day i am dumbfounded by the number of people who have profiles of their true lives.
I almost wrote true selves but theory goes, most people can only act towards their true nature enveloped by the knowledge of anonymity.
I could get into a whole ramble regards that, but that was not the reason I opened this thread.
Since last i was on this site, threads, of mine anyway, can no longer be edited by the writer, if she, or he makes a grammatical error, mispelling a word and replacing it with the correct miss spelling, misspelling.
The addition of the thumbs up and thumbs down, in lieu of actually writing anything or even placing a dancing cartoon emoticon to do their speaking for them, a number of people seem to take great lengths at showing their 2 year old nature.
In this I mean no two year old i have ever heard of is capable of articulating the comprehension of a short written story, in writing. One may exist. Who am i to say she or he does not already exist? On the flip side I already feel pity should one be born and brought to the light of those of this World. More so those who would know at a glance their own level of inferiority; if such a respondent, who thinks in the former, has attained the level of intelligence capable of objective reflection of the known self.
I would like to say I differentiate between the known self and the human educated self. And by that i mean this. We are all born not knowing what species we are and what gender we are. But the first thing we see are upright animals covered in various colored cloth shielding who tell us each, that we are human. After that each is taught what it is to be a human.
I guess what I mean is personality, which is used more as a noun these days than a set of personal behavioral traits that, as I see it, only the individual in question knows in their entirety. But personality I don't think is the same as nature. Although to be sure, it is a close call.
Anonymity. You know those idiots on this site that jump from thread to post clicking the thumbs down icon, you do know someone out there is documenting which profiles do so and calculate a sorts of things about your personality. They might start with just about anything. Maybe the type of stories you like to target.
Maybe just the time it takes you to open the thread and make your first thumbs down click.
We are told endlessly about how we are each tracked around the internet.
Why? Because we are so stupid we don't know? Or is it because it cannot then be said we were not told?
Problem is who is doing the tracking? For argument's sake lets say half are the site its self and the remainder are programs and (most likely) to a lessor degree in comparison, real time people looking for law breakers, drug dealers, p*dophile... that sort of thing.
Each of them, for vastly differing reasons, most likely, are constantly coming up with new ways to link a personality trait with a known online action, which may be as little as clicking thumbs up or thumbs down regarding a particular topic.
Anonymity for those who race through threads and comments clicking thumbs down? You are the type of profile that gets entered into those counts.
It has been said a picture paints a thousand words. The reverse, of course, is, to paint a picture with a thousand words.
Thumbs up or thumbs down, I know no other 'Profile' knows who you are because in doing so no record that can be read by any Profile exists, for some reason not even the author, but just think, thumbs up and thumbs down was not put at the bottom of each thread and comment without a reason.
Click me and it says more about your personality to all the online tracker counters, than it does about me, my words, or my topic of choice. W.

rohann, you lost me. What isn't real? Multiple profiles? Which thread are you commenting on? POS? What is POS and what do you wish (me) the reader of your comment to disregard? What's bull?
Please, if you are going to make a comment, please write in a way that someone not you can understand. That may take more than 3 short quips but they give you 3,600 characters to explain your self. It is not always about saying something in 25 words or less.
Thanks. W.

Point in case about the idiots and them seemingly clicking on the thumbs down icon simply because it is there... your little laughing cartoon emoticon has 4 thumbs down at the time of this reply.
Not sure they did it because of how you replied as much as to maybe(?) voice their infantile 'anonymous' displeasure at you for commenting on my thread.
Personally speaking, CS should make it so that if you want to click the negative it should be mandatory a reason, in words, is given. Otherwise the click does not register. See how many do it then. W.

It isn't real because the person "thumbing down" 5-6-7 times is posing as 5-6-7 individuals--so it's fake. Get it now? Relax--those POS that do those things get crap from the world, so it's a "win" for us.

This is not meant to be discourteous, and I am aware that script communicating is not the same as "in-person", but it escapes me that you didn't understand....again, it is "not real" because it is fake---one profile is authentic, the other 5-6-7 are pretend, or fake. So, not to be given any regards. Diamonds are real. Cubic Zirconium is fake. Leather is real. Plastic is fake. and so on....

you don't know what POS means?? You don't know what bull means? Seriously dude--methinks you are a bit fey===(look it up) in a dictionary. (It's a big book with lots of words in it. You can find it in a library. That's a public building with books in it. You may borrow them. And even take them home! Yes! wow
