I was talking to a friend and we wondered whether men (or women come to think of it) expect to find a partner on their doorstep. OK that would be brilliant but the chances are that your soul mate is out there in the world as likely as being in the same supermarket as you shop. So I wondered what the general feeling was - I know it would be difficult in my situation due to family commitments and finances obviously have to be taken into consideration but if I felt I'd found someone I would want to spend the rest of my life with then I would do my fair share of the travelling and expect him to do the same. Anyway over to you!

I totally agree....it has to be done by both parties...otherwise whats the point, if the commitment is not there to travel, then its not worth it.

I don't know if this counts as real travelling but I did fly to Stockholm to meet someone (the one and only time I have travelled).

Hi Pauline

I have been ooop north to meet someone. If the chemistry had been there I would have continued to visit him. But I certainly think a person has to want to come and visit you as much as you want to visit them and not one sided, if they don't want to put themselves out its just a waste of time and money.

I travel every other weekend to see Chris and he comes down to see me...we both put in equal amounts of time and effort...

so yes some men do travel as he travels for six hours on 3 different trains with his three boys just to see me for a few days then does it all again to go back home!
