Is integrity outdated? ( Archived) (44)

As I browse through these forums - and as I live life - I see where so many have suffered in some way becuase someone in our lives didn't value integrity.

Has the virtue of integrity been lost in our generation? Do people really know what integrity is?

I do believe that it is becoming more rare. Those of us who still do have integrity, well at least me, feel like dinosaurs from a forgotten era some days.

It may very well be lost. However. I can only really control myself and teach my children and guide them but ultimately I am responsible for me. So I will continue to have integrity because in my mind, that is the right thing to do.

I think alot of people value integrity...BUT it seems those that say they don't have a different idea of what it means!!!!! If someone tells you something that you dont want to hear or you don't like....Does that mean that they don't have integrity????

For instance if your SO wants to break up and see someone else and tells you BUT you don't like it does that mean he has integrity or no...because you don't want to hear it and arent willing to except it!!!!!

What does it mean when there is no commitment????? Does that mean then when he/or she dates others that they don't have integrity????

Sometimes it's how we view things one sided that can ruin a person's integrity...simply because we don't get what we want!!!!!!!

if some one gives their word and goes back on their word that is an integrty issue

it does not have to be a written contract

just one aspect of integrity here

I believe that most values have become things people wear. They put them on or take them off as they see fit. If a value gets in the way of something they want they just simple take it off and leave it crumpled up on the floor until they need it again. Then they dawn this once forgoten value until it no long serves their pupose and then on the floor it goes again.

Very few still hold true to their values anymore. If anyone shows real values they are labeled outcasts. Many times I have been told that I am selfrighteous because of holding to my values. This usually comes when in a relationship and my adherence to my values deprives the other of getting what they want.
