I think (this is just my opinion) that some posters tend to reply to a particular post in a thread and disregard the original topic.
That is why a thread starts with whale smuggling in the 18th century as a topic and ends up discussing nasal hair.
It really cannot be helped unless the rule of discussing only the topic in the original post is upheld (but then it could get a trifle boring - nasal hair is such an enthralling subject)

When you're dealing with a broad spectrum of people and their environments, it's bound to happen. Interaction can change on a consistant basis depending on the person and/or subject matter. It is human nature at it's best.
So true, especially if I get into a thread....i have a bad tendancy to be thinking waaaaay outside the box.
Should be just a case of following rules really.
