This is an excellent question. I haven't thought about this until now. I used to take a drive and go to the canyons in Utah...sit there and listen to music, and look at the beautiful mountains.
I haven't really found a place here in NC, except for the walking trails that overlook a lake that my sister brought me to. Thanks for bringing this up. I think I'm going there today.
There are many places of refuge in NH. My favorite being a place called Nocky's Landing. It's a public boat launch with picnic tables but if you walk into the woods a bit there is plenty of privacy.
I have gone there many times to just think, say my goodbyes to a loved one who has passed away or mended a broken heart.
Being born and raised in Alaska....... i would say yes i do have a lil unknown not populated spot on the Little Su River in the Hatchers Pass area that i go and have gone to for many yrs now just to think and take in all around me and the peace sound of the rushing river.
A diminutive waterfall deep in a woods. The racket of water is so full of meanings it helps me to stop thinking about how brutal this World can be. No one knows this place. It is sacred
A wild strawberry field among spruces almost on the top of a mountain. It faces the Ocean ... the place I feel so happy and free.
When I was a wee girl ... I loved to go to the forgoten rail road and sit on the warm sleepers and listen to the stillness and a birds and whatch the clouds
