"British Prime Minister Tony Blair will order nearly half the British troops in Iraq home by the end of 2007, British news outlets reported early Wednesday.

The British Broadcasting Corporation and The Sun newspaper said Blair will tell the House of Commons on Wednesday that 1,500 soldiers will be back in Britain within weeks and that 3,000 of Britain's contingent of 7,000 will be back by the end of the year."

Leaves our idiot president more isolated than ever. I can only imagine how that poodle Blair must have trembled when making the call to tell his boss that he was pulling out.

Ha ha ha ... Icarus, while you are chasing the news on the West coast of our wee Planet ... I'm in thrill, monitoring what's going on in the East regions. Amusing to disbelief it is ...

U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates apparently thinks his country should be armed for a big war. "We need a full set of measures to conduct a war, including both special military units necessary for war against terrorists and infantry troops to be able to fight against large regular armies. We do not know what changes can take place in such countries as Russia, China, North Korea, Iran and others," Robert Gates stated.

He made this statement during hearings in the U.S. House Committee on Armed Services, when congressmen were discussing United States- military budget of FY2008. Gates supported the military budget, which supposes to increase the number of U.S. infantry and marines. These measures must increase the number of -free detachments- under the control of Pentagon, in order to be able to respond to possible new threats.

It is worth mentioning that after the end of "cold war" Russia and China were not labeled by the higher command representatives of U.S. army as potential enemies contrary to North Korea and Iran, and now Russia is included in the list of the so called "axis of evil" and even takes the first place.

Ok, at least the USA doesn`t pretend to be a friend anymore. Words like "Russia is the enemy" have become a common thing, even in newspapers headings

It's not fun to come home from an unsupported war. No matter how you feel about the war Support the trrops from all countries. They are there because there government asked them to and they answered the call. The stupid media is what caused the Veitnam pullout and it will end this one in disgrace also just to keep the ratings going.

I wonder when the working people of this earth will realize that governments are purposely using "police actions" and "localized conflicts" to fatten the bank accounts of big corporations and for population control.

Blair a Poodle, agreed, but be aware; your president is sincere, notwithstanding his misunderstanding of international affairs and a lack of sound judgement, together with advice from those around him.

Do you sincerely believe, USA should stay in Vietnam?

When 'Bush told the Veterans of Foreign Wars that the US will "finish the task" in Afghanistan and Iraq to honor those already fallen."

Do you think it makes any common sense? Absolutely contradictory announcement?

This is the most childishly selfish and stubborn statement i've ever heard. It is not about the WAR itself, already.

Is it payback? ....... with more human lives?

Our President is an idiot. He believes that God talks to him. His brand of Christianity is hoping to provoke the "end times". How the world would have looked if the election hadn't been stolen from Gore.

Well your boys (and girls) have always been used by the empire haven't they? Be it in the Boer wars or at Gallipoli. I hope your electorate will have the good sense to sent Howard & Co packing.

I'm not sure what you mean about Veitnam, We pulled out of there in 1973.

As for Iraq and Afganastan, I'm not so sure we should have gone there in the first place. But, now that we are there we should complete the task at hand by whatever mean is available.

Regardless of right or wrong. I support the trrops that are there in whatever capacity I have and pry for the safe return of each and everyone of them.

There is currently a theory developed by former CIA, State and other Fed. agencies that the entire 9-11 scenario was most likely "an inside job" and the reason is "Peak-Oil": the world is at the end of the oil resources and the wells will be going dry much sooner than anticipated or calculated. Seems the latest calculations are more than 20 years off and acquire the greatest reserves possible which are in not only Iraq but Iran and Saudi Arabia also. A plan had to be formulated to secure these reserves by "boots on the ground" and quickly.
For very specific interviews with many of the real analysts and the real experts from the many departments of the CIA and other intelligence gathering agencies see the documentary DVD :"Uncovered: the Whole Truth about the Iraq War via The Disinformation Company Ltd. 163 Third Ave. Suite 108 New York, NY 10003 and the truly devastating book with DVD Towers Of Deception The Media Cover-Up of 9-11 by Barrie Zwicker. This is the "meat and potatoes" of the entire deception for war. In short, it is also a detailed indictment for the entire Bush-Channey-Rice gang for real War Crimes, not only against your own people but also against the entire world, Combined, these are graphic indictments and very specific. Zwicker's boog with DVD is from New Society Publishers

As much as I dislike Dubya and Co I find the inside job conspiracy theory hard to believe. Bush was clearly wrong-footed by 9/11. With this theory you're in somewhat dubious company which includes the likes of Yahya Rahim Safavi, the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.
