She's right, trying to avoid or ignore the pain only prolongs it. Scream, cry, hit something (not someone!), whatever it takes, but let yourself feel it, and ya know what, it doesn't kill you, and it does get better. Bad times are no fun, but it takes em to get to the good times and be able to appreciate it. Sunny days ahead for you, and you'll appreciate the rain.
