Its easy to confuse love and lust especially at the beginning of a relationship. The difference is love will still be there when the lust has gone. I dont think a realtionship can truly survive unless both people are in love.

Sure, I suppose love can be one-sided, to a degree...but why bother with a relationship if that is the case?

I hear so much chatter about folks being in Love with someone but they either no longer love them or the person does not love them back..

You are talking about being IN Love. I learned along time ago that there's a difference between loving someone and being in love. One is selfless and expansive, the other selfish and akin to a vacuum.
I would say that either can exist in a single entity, but that it's true and full potential are experienced only when it's mutual.

in my opinion one-sided love is more common thing than mutual love.
yes it is possible, it hurts, it makes you go up the wall, do stupid things, lose weight, gain weight, be right nightmare to yourself and the others but whichever way it is a good thing to happen. I always say it is better to experience true love than being with someone because you like them or because it is comfortable...no matter if it is mutal or one-sided love, it is still LOVE the most beautiful thing in the world!

Unfortunatly yes it can be. I thought some of my ex's truly loved me...i was wrong. One of them just used me for what little money I had. Guess I was lucky they didn't because thanks to CS and a very good friend of mine. Daniel and I have a life together.
