I don't know where I would be without my friends. I value each and everyone of them, and feel blessed to have them in my life. A good few years ago, my bestfriend of 20 years slept with my partner, and that did cause me to be very wary of who I trusted, and I didn't like making new friends or getting too close to people. But not anymore, She was just and exception
Dolly - you have made a cuppa in my place and in my book that's real friendship! LOL

Most young people who have a lot of friends have yet to know the meaning and value of true friendship. I don't have a lot of friends, associates yes but true and genuine friendships, few. I would rather have one good friend then a whole bunch of so called friends. I had a really good friend at least I thought for over 20 years and our friendship ended over something so stupid and even though we tried to get it back, it just wasn't there anymore. I have come to realise that people I thought were my friends were really not. The old adage, "Out of sight, out of mind" really applies when it comes to friendship. I moved away and tried to keep in touch with old friends by phone, mail, etc. but it was always me doing the calling and writing. Friendship is very important to me and I really believe even in a romantic relationship the friendship must continue in order for it to work. I don't have a lot of women friends because I had a profession that was male dominated so it has taken a lot of time for me to establish relationships with women on a friendship basis. But I really value friendship and have always tried to be a good friend, someone you can depend on. But I once heard a saying, "If you want your friends, your enemies won't hurt you"! Hope that is not true!
We all eventually find out who our true friends are. Its never been clearer to me than recently. There will always be those who fall by the wayside......., as we all find. I have been blessed with knowing some top people - you know who you are!

Those who have stood by me through my difficult periods over the last 12 months, the biggest thankyou, you will never know how much your friendship is appreciated. Your the best
Yeah, me too, Chris! I know the feeling........ my first ever posting was following a great upset following a 6 month "relationship" and has resulted in me making a lot of friends. Of course, some have come and gone, but the ones who still remain are truly steadfast and I thank them for that. The dilemma is how I will ever re-pay them...?
Whatever the mess was that brought you here, we are glad it did, hun!! Yeahhhhhh!!!!

It is a good thought provoking question, I think.
