Are you referring to boxing, my friend?? If so, yes, I think its brutal and barbaric. How anyone can find two men beating the living crap out of each other to the point of, sometimes, brain damage, etc entertaining is beyond me!! Good thread! Thanks.
My nephew is startin gto get deep into the "Fight club" nightlife. I myself enjoy the matches but kids now are in backyards or peolpes basement literally beating the the snot of each other until someone taps out or gets knocked out.
The term was in your thread title. I clearly don't understand what you mean by "full contact" hence my question. So I am still no clearer. What "Fight Club" nightlife is, I have no idea!
As for the rest, I think you'll find that's.... human beings.... simple!!

I have a few friends, adults, that do full contact fighting...no safety gear at all. It is hard for me to watch to be honest. I have had to excuse myself and go outside at one point. It's a rough thing, but some love to do it!
Ok, I don't support those backyard fights. That's stupid stuff and very dangerous. If you like the sport, train seriously, join a martial arts club and do official competitions.
My thoughts are that things like this exploits participants by greedy promoters catering to a blood thirsty few. I would try to talk your nephew out of it. Local boxing and wrestling circuits are absolutely notorious for taking them in and spitting them out.

would you watch it? buy a ticket to an event?
would you ask to have the TV channel turned? do you think its barbaric?
should it have an age restriction as to who can watch it?
