Taxi Drivers hardly make too much money and are paid an hourly rate unless they own the cab
My dad drove a cab for about 20 years. He owned his own cab and had a little bit of stock in the company. Cab drivers do not make nearly as much as you think.
Fuel is expensive, insurance is expensive, money is spent on constant maintenance and owners usually end up buying new vehicles every few years because they drive 10 times as much as you and I and their vehicles do not last nearly as long. there are also monthly dues paid to the cab company and a special plate is needed to drive a cab which costs a pretty penny.
Growing up, I did not see my dad all that much. He worked long hours, 7 days a week just to keep us in our ordinary suburban home.
