Just before Christmas this year my Mum found out she had cancer of the kidney. As you can imagine this was awful. She got refered straight to hospital and had a major operation in February removing one of her kidneys. The hospital discharged my mum to early and she took poorley at home and got rushed back into hospital 2 weeks later, finding out that if we did not get her to back to hospital at the time we did 30 minutes later she would have died. Eventually we got her back to strength and she has been back at work now for 2 weeks having regular checkups at the hospital. However, today she has received a letter from the hospital saying they have picked up something on her last scan and has to go back into hospital to be examined again. I just hope to god that the cancer has not spread!!!!!

Ash xx

I'm glad to hear your Mum is doing better and has returned to workapplause Hopefully the scan has not detected anything abnormal, sometimes it is just a precautionary measure to have her rechecked. It is important to have an ocologist who is involved with your mother's medical history, usually they will require that she maintain regular visits and routine testing. I don't know if your Mum had radiation or chemotherapy but the prognosis is usually good if she has undergone treatments as such. Wishing your Mum all the best for continued good healthcomfort
