Some come on here for fun , some for love, some for online friends.
I know that I rarely get involved in the more serious topics, as I deal with them on a daily basis and come to the site for some light hearted relief. You and I both have experienced the personl shots for voicing an opinion about a topic, and I found that it was just to much bother to continue of the subject, for no matter what we said we offended someone...such is life

Sometimes, folks just wanna have some 'adult fun', and kinda not have to think too hard about it all. I agree it can seem terribly cheesy, but hey, I think we're on a dating site, it takes allsorts, why complain? There's enough good threads that involve discussion on an in depth intellectual level...enough for me anyway.

once in a while I'll discuss current events etc...
it's nice to get on here and just let your mind rest from all of

I avoid volatile threads for the most part because they degenerate into personal attacks rather than discussion which we can all learn from, and it is tedious scrolling through the name calling in the hope of genuine input.

It depends on the mood the reader is in also, if they are feeling senstive and may read the words as a slight upon them , they come out fighting. No matter the age, its the self image of the individual that affects the response...just my 2 cents

That makes sense as a reason TD. What can we do to avoid it? Anything? I never intentionally say anything to target another poster, and if I have a 'bone to pick' I take it off the forum into email so it is one on one without spoiling it for everyone else.

I simply so what you do, if someone has an issue with anything that I have posted I deal with them direct and 9 times out of 10, I find that person is having a bad day behind the scenes..its how we handle it in the public forums that determines the outcome

It comes back to how the person is feeling at that time, for some it may be the only conversation they have albeit an Online one. We all chat and have fun, but there is an underlying tone of isolation for some..It simply as question of putting yourself in their shoes and seeing it from their eyes, how the words are written.
We have all walks of life in here from the Sassy and witty to the more conservative of folks which makes for interesting conversations, even when the topics are controversial

I think also, it comes down to how assured in yourself you are to begin with. Are you expressing a personal view, or intentionally tring to be controversial? If it's a personal view, then you have every right, and could remind the person you're expressing yourself too that this is the case. But if you're trying to be controversial, well, that's not so good.
Either way, folks are always gonna misinterpret from time to time...it's just how we deal with it on those occassions that determine wether or not a good spirit can be maintained.

Just take it with a "pinch of salt" and ignore the jibes , why should you not partake in a topic that interests you, due to another person being childish...I wouldnt let another quiten me like that, for you , and the rest of us, are entilted to an opinion and should be able to express ourselves without personal condemnation from another. In time a pattern evolves with a persons words, and shows the person for who they truly are

I find it quite shallow that the only thing people will engage in, are the would you/have you threads, not that I can't have fun in those as well...
But for the issues that really matters, people tend to shy away...
