For a while I found that I was finding myself with computers. Almost one for every room. Silly, huh. Then I had an interest in having TV's everywhere. I even thought I'd like one in the bathroom, but I nixed that idea. lol Recently, I have wanted to have CD players around. Hope I stop it soon! Also, I have been buying BOOKS like they are going out of style. That's one I'll just slow down on. (need to read the ones I have, now)
LOL!! After several thousand books, manuscripts, etc. (and bookcases!) and various art works, my children are both telling me to "stop, please!" %D I now think that they are right and I must start to "edit" my collections; sort of...Same goes for the records of old Rock n Roll, Jazz, and now Cd's that I have collected over the years. That, at least was finished many years ago; same with the various weapons, mostly modern. No more My children even want me to do an updated inventory; the last time was in 1982...they're right, I really should. Maybe during the winter when it's too cold to go outside...%D
Now, I've started collecting books on cd's. Ones that co-ordinate with the books I already have. Some of Deepak Chopra's books are terrifically interesting and a bit complex so reading the books and listening to the cds reinforce remembering information.
Oh gawd, I forgot about all the knitting yarn I've collected. I love having them, though. I stopped buying yarn because I have enough to supply a small store. lol
-Knives, old pen knives/camping knives and new Smith & Wesson knives, Bowie daggers, etc. I literally have a black bag in the back of my closet. -Cookware, ironware, saucepans...kitchen knives, of course. -Computers, I have two Mac G3's, one eTower and one Compaq. -4x4/offroading magazines, even though I sold my lil' Jeep and the custom '71 Dodge pickup doesn't go rock crawling...ever. -Bike catalogs...even though my Huffy's in bad shape. -Flashlights, including two 2k candlepower spotlights...one has a strobe... -Wallets...lesson learned: it really is what's inside that matters...
when my husband was in the hospital they said there was little hope for him...I had a 10 month old and a 12yr old at the time....my friend gave me a lighhthouse and told me I needed to be the light for my family much as the light from a lighthouse is for the ships...standing strong and looking out...
I started collecting them for years and friends would give them as gifts...he pulled through and 10 years later divorced...but looking at those lighthouse always gave me the strength I needed for my kids...I stopped collecting after the divorce...they are boxed up in the garage...can't seem to sell em in a yard sale...maybe one day!
My family is full of Pack-Rats!!! from as far back as i can remember. In the last 2 1/2 years i have collected over 500 Country CD'S 150,Louisiana Cajun/Zydeco CD'S,100, Oldies Classic Rock CD's amd God only knows how many Bluesand Jazz CD's I also like to Collect Nick-Nacks!!!!.so i guesss you could say, that i could run a Music Store. ,and variety Store.
Marathon, if you're intersted I met a knife maker in Oklahoma that builds some pretty cool stuff. I bought a miniature mill/drill/lathe from him. He's also a bail bondsman. Quite a guy!
I'm still collecting cars, trucks and mechanical goodies of all kinds. I told myself I wouldn't until I finished a few projects but I bought a pair of Jeeps this spring and eyeballing stuff everywhere I go. The only other thing is books, books and more books. I wish I made more time to read them. I just picked up "The Art Of War" and hopefully will read it after work this coming week.
