From my friend's country house, it takes about 15 minutes to get to the nearest store, it's a gas station/store/restaurant. The whole state is hooked on fried okra, fried tomatos, fried biscuits, fried potatoes, white gravy, fried, fried, fried!!!! :))) We went out a few times for meals, if it isn't fried, it's smoked !!!
The soil there is bright red, and it rained three of the four weeks we were there. That was better than the heat they usually have. There are 10 acres of land around their house. It's a 3-bedroom, two bath ranch style house. The bedrooms are under the hill, it is earthen sheltered. It's too far away from everything for my comfort, and once you get to "town" it's very small. Of course, Norman Okla. is about 20 miles and that's a larger city, as well as Okla. City, about 35 miles, not sure.
I noticed that there were no bars around, then realized that everyone goes to the casinos for beer, drinks and even music. They had a lot of scheduled musicians, Grand Funk RR was coming, and BB King, Four Tops, and of course a lot of country musicians I never heard of. It was fun riding back here, we stopped in St. Louis, MO for a casino break. Glad to be home!
