Internet dating ever work? ( Archived) (39)

I don't think internet dating is successful. I've been a member some time and the only messages/flowers have been from many miles away. I'm one of the good guys, hard-working, caring, I have 2 dependant children but (IMO) woman tend to look for the devil in people, you know (the bad guy gets the best results). Open honesty tends to be boring. Maybe I'm wrong but I'd love to know the secret that women seek. Ok... I've said enough. Please excuse if I've upset anyone.
Btw.... this is the best forum I've ever frequented. So many good people on board.

I've met 9 people from dating sites, so far. (Not from this one, I haven't been here long enough to know who anybody is yet.)

8 of them were absolute train wrecks. Total liars, misrepresented themselves in every conceivable way. One was an arsonist. The less said about her, the better.

The ninth one was the best girlfriend I ever had.

So you never know.

I don't think the odds are all that great, but it is possible to find someone worth being with.

Just met someone from this site. We talk for about a week and a half. Then we just spent this weekend together and talked a few times on the phone tonight. Hopefully this will be "it" for me.

Both of my sons married women they met online. Unfortunately, they both are separated from their wives. Their issues are entirely not the fault of where they met, though. They really encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone when I was first widowed. I have dated several others from other date sites and I will say most were not good experiences. Either it was really too soon for me to be dating or it was too soon for them to be dating so nothing really serious. Of course, you have those wackos you run into including the guy I was dating temporarily last year. It seemed that each date, another red flag came up in my face and finally, I simply had to tell him, I just wasn't interested. Getting rid of him was another story in it's self.

The ones I have made a few friends with are the ones I have met thru chats or forums. The one I have the most contact with is one I met thru a website and to this day, he calls me 1-4 times a week, depending on how his life is going.

I really like CS and I have only been here less than a month. This site is different than any other one I have been on, over the years. I think the difference is the forums. Even though there is alot of bantering going on, you get a sense of the personalities behind the words. That's the beauty of forums. People tend to loosen up more and show their true selves. When the need is there, there is compassion, support and understanding behind most people here. It's real easy to see where is really is.

It rarely works. Most are here to play.

I went on a great date tonight with someone I met on another site. It was fun as hell. Nobody from this site yet................YET. But I'm working on it right now!

Well I have dated a couple from the internet but I wouldn't cloe off other areas of my life. Shoot I may meet my Mr. Right at the grocery store, a restaurant or anywhere...so I look everywhere!
