I remember when you used to cry
allaying only with a soft lullabye
pictures floating in my mind
memorys of such a wonderful time

I remember helping you to speak
mama you said in the first week
tears of joy at your first word
the greatest thing I had ever heard

I remember teaching you to walk
I had to watch you like a hawk
little hands into everything
including every single bin

I remember your first day at school
in the class you were the jewel
working hard and making friends
but those days have come to an end

now you've become a devil child
so headstrong, unruly and wild
will not listen to a word I say
everything has to be your way

I know one day you will return
the sweet child that I yearn
until then I'll just pray
that you won't go to far astray
