a few months before my then girlfriends 21st birthday i couldnt think of something just that little bit extra special to give her
but the guy that managed the local football team who we both knew personally moved to a larger club down south taking all of the players and coaches that we knew personally too with him this really put her down as she worshiped the team
so idecided to call the manager guy up and explained the situation and could he get all or mabye some the guys to just sign a nice birthday card he agreed and i bought one of the cards with the few pages inside as he asked me to
i made sure i got the card directed back to me at my work address incase she picked up the mail at the house and found out
what he done was get all the guys that he took with him to sign it and small personal notes on it to her and the guys he didnt take with him he had it sent by courier to them and back to sign
on the big day all her birthday cards and presents had arrived so i slipped the envelope in amongst the others when she opened it she burst into floods tears she couldnt understand why they had signed the card and written personal notes to her out of the blue
i said they did it cause i had asked them to for her
that was really lovely doogs, but can you help me? its my sons 9th birthday on sunday and ive sent 25 invitations out to his friends for a garden party, i have nothing planned etc, help me to make a good day pleaseeeee
Doogs, that is WONDERFUL. You will have a party-planning forum in no time. It is my daughter's 12 birthday next week, and she also is graduating grade school the same day. We will celebrate that weekend, but I could sure use some good ideas.
Hey, hotlips, did they rsvp? I invited my son's whole class to his 5th birthday and one little boy came, that's all, my son was crushed, but we live so far out, nobody wants to drive to a party and leave their kids with a house full of recluses in the country.
Anyway, I've spent over 100$ in fancy food before, only to find that the kids like weinies wrapped in Pillsbury buttermilk fridge bisquits better. Garden party - I'd say get a bubble blower and some balloons. Those are the kinds of things my children love - the long balloons; we sit and make animals out of them. Face painting is cool, too, if you can do that sort of thing. I love it.
Nobody ever made a big deal out of my birthday. Sorry.
Karin I will e-mail you a list of ideas for the party,my boys you to have the best garden parties, moms got quiet the immagination, even when it comes to kids play, guess I"m still a wee bit of a kid myself,at heart i am for sure.
thanks guys ive got the food, all the kids live in my street so they will all be there with their snotty noses etc, hot thats a good idea with the balloons was just gonna play pass the parcel
Ja, my bairns love the balloons, they've become a must-have at every party. When we are stuck inside I run up to the five-n-dime and fill a bunch with helium and let them roll about the house.
What's "pass the parcel?"
Another sure win is kite flying, if the weather is right and you have lots of energy.
My daughter likes craft parties - Set a big table out with lots of paint and supplies, have everyone bring a picture to frame or bag or shoes to decorate, that sort of thing. Girly, though, maybe, and I guess you want boy ideas.
popping for appels is always fun for them,3 legged race up the garden, building bird houses, even if they don't look like bird house out of popscile sticks and just white elmers glue, and it keeps them busy, pair them up if need be.....lots more where that came from if you need more.
ah, that sounds interesting, but only one gets the goodies? You guys are tough over there. Oh, here's one, of course! A pinata! I'm doing that for my boy when he turns 7. I can't wait!
We always make "guest bags," too. Just a few peices of candy and a toy to show our appreciation, and so everyone gets a treat. I always have the birthday child be in charge, so they learn to appreciate that all of these people are giving them gifts, and they should give something back.
hotlips i guess at nine year old he will be getting a little more independant so i would say have a party in two halfs the first half with all the adults running things like games n stuff and the second half just turn up the music and let the kids run wild in the garden themsleves and chuck in a football
the thing he might apreciate the most is being able to relax without adults hanging around
you know how it is
anyway hope you get scorching hot weather for the day and let us now how it goes
just to burst everyones bubble on the birthday theme lol
whats the worst birthday you have had
i dont like celibrating as somthing allways sours it
it was my 30th three years ago it was all going fine but i had still to receive a birthday call from her sister and hubby their kids as they live a bit away
i got a telephone call alright her sister had planned for the last three months to leave her hub and kids for some guy and she picked my birthday as the day to do it so we spent the rest of my birthday with three crying kids and her hubbby
Last birthday, a friend took me out to dinner. I still think that was pretty special considering my friend is a woman and most women I know wouldn't do that.
I would take you out to dinner. I have a friend here in Ada, a very nice young man, and we take turns taking each other out for any number of occasions, including no special reason at all.
I had a guy friend who arrived at my house on my birthday - made a bubblebath for me, with candles all around, brought champagne and poured me a glass to drink in the bath, and even brought a boom box with soothing music to play while I was enjoying myself. What a guy!
OH, itsy, thank you! That reminds me of a wonderful night with man I dated for a short while; he did that for me! I came home from work and he filled the tub with bubbles, put on some music, lit some candles and a - well, never mind about that, poured me a glass of wine and set out a piece of chocolate, and when I was ensconsed in the bath, he rubbed my neck and shoulders...oh my! While I drank the wine he cooked supper... It was a super evening, one of the best ever.
