Can you really go from an ongoing intimate relationship with someone, to one of just being Friends? confused I have pondered and pondered this. I think perhaps men can do this easier than women...Tell me your thoughts and/or experiences with this. wave hug

Me and my ex were together 3 years, 3 long happy fulfilled years then he left me for my friend, they didnt work and of course AS HIS FRIEND I was there to help him pick the pieces, but were best friends now 8 months have passed since we split and yes I ve wanted to get back with him on several ocasions but its not going to and will never work.. so now im getting on with my life.. but I wonder the same thing, is he finding it easier to be just friends then me?

I was married for 10 years. 7 were great but I was miserable for the final 3. I'm sure she was too.

Once we got divorced we got along great and still do. When we lived closer together we still did things together and with our mutual friends. Even now, we are thousands of miles apart, we still e-mail and send jokes to each other (which I post on CS from time to time).

I think it's OK and I think it really depends on the maturity and genuine affection both the man and woman shared and in some cases the circumstances of their breakup.

Anyway, my .02

why not...like in every other situation in life, it depends on the circumstances surrounding the relationship and the personality of the parties, in that how peaceful they are and whether or not they hold grudges.

I am good friends with my ex wife but not necessarily in good terms with an ex girlfriend

i think you can be after some time but it depends on the circumstances regarding the break up... better to let go of the bad stuff and move on to the wonderful things to come... from experience men do have an easier time of it tho

It should be more difficult than converting a friend to a lover.

yea, I'm reminded of this article I read the other day about love and friendships.
Sometimes it seems, according to the article, women are just too scared to convert a friendship to a romance, because this way, they will loose a friend. This means that women regards friendship as important as a lover or even more important.
But men are on better chances cheating on a friend for a lover.
Is this true?
