On these initial encounters called first dates.

to you what is an acceptable amount of time to spend with this first encounter?

what do you think the amount of time being together would you consider a compatibility possibility?

Fantastic thread.....banana

I am really lost on this one, years ago the comfort zone for me was dinner & show and then came the goodnight part without stress. Now the goodnight part is nerve wrecking since "my name is_______, lets skip the show, and have breakfast tomorrow morning wow

what do you think the amount of time being together would you consider a compatibility possibility?

I think if after the first date left you anxious for another date, is a beginning of learning the compatibility. Looking forward to seeing him each and every time is a good sign you have a keeper!

My opinion, you can almost judge within minutes of the first contact how long the date will last...I have been on 2 from this site in the last 2 months, the 1st one was a coffee meeting and lasted about 1 1/2 hours. Conversation was good, he was extemely funny. Will I go out with him again, perhaps..has he asked, yes.
The second date was yesterday and we spent pretty much the whole day together. We planned to go to the casino, but, thought we would not be able to chat so we opted for bowling instead. We both suck at bowling but it was a hoot. After bowling was done, we sat and chatted, and he asked if I wanted to go have dinner. If at that point I was not having a good time or not interested, I would have said I need to get home soon. But, we went to dinner and at the end of the date he gave me a teddy bear, awww. how sweet. Will I go out with him again, yes, has he asked, yes.
So to answer your question, it all depends, but I still think you can tell within the 1st 10 minutes if it will be a flop or not.

Morning Murray

Thanks Dawn but I can't take credit for this one...I stole it from the internationals.

I agree that you can usually tell within the first 10 min. I think the shortest coffe meeting I had was about 45 min and it was tough stretching it out - he couldn't carry on a conversation - it was like pulling teeth. The longest - dinner and a movie, so counting the movies 2hours was probably 4 hours.

I remember dating - It's been awhile though.
I really prefer the group things - a little easier. I liked pool night - got to shoot some pool and meet others absolutly no pressure, and if you hit it off with someone - there's always a follow up date.
