well, its all I can think of - seems to me theres excess testosterone on the loose in the world of politics, what with all these wars n stuff - maybe if all the presidents and prime ministers etc were women...............

stereotyping wont work - I for one dont have to suffer the monthlies and another would be that we wouldnt be so blinded by power that we couldnt hand over the reigns for a day or two to our 2nd in command

rolling on the floor laughing

And the world would come to a complete stand still, because everyone in Parliament would have to agree and the discussions would never have an ending rolling on the floor laughing

There would be very little difference as far as power or the giving up of said power, Consider Hillary Clinton, I rest my case.

yep - but it has to start somewhere - be had to pit up with years of maggie thatcher - but we learned how not to do it from her so we have a good advantage there - besides, what could be worse than how things are currently panning out doh

I loved Margaret Thatcher, she is one of the few women with the capacity to hold such a position of power.

Do people even really understand the question?doh

How many people really understand what a matriarchal society would entail?

If people don't have any idea, check out the way the Iroquois lived...

As to your question Trish, I see the scope of war being a lot different. I don't see it being eliminated entirely. Fathers are secretly proud of their sons when they die in battle, so its not as hard for them to send them off to war. But mothers, well, they don't care about all the posturing, they just love their children...yes...I think it might make a difference.

And females are more into communication to solve their problems, they are less prone to act violently and rashly...

As its just theory at this point, thats all I can say.

ah, dear maggie - firs she emasculated her husband..............then she tried for our nation - I thought it quite ironic that the prison guards tried to go on strike last week and couldnt cos it had been deemed illegal - she should have left the unions alone, leave the people their pride at least

The point being is that if a woman decides to go to war it's because it's indispensable. As mothers we are inclined to consider its implications a lot more. The statitics we have currently and the above mentioned examples are not comparable from a statistical standpoint just because we have not seen many woman as presidents.cheers

You're talking about women of power in a largely patriarchal world. Of course wars were started, and history paints them as blood-thirsty. Do you really think they had female advisors and such...no, some general was standing there saying, "Majesty, its the only option we have..."

I concur that Boadicea is a bad example. Times were utterly barbaric then, and she was, again, reacting to a largely male political environment...

I dont think its about gender either Silki wave all I am trying to get to the bottom of is whether or not women would be better rulers given the current situation of the world and the imminent prospect of mutual annihilation
