Ok....maybe Im just venting here...but I would like to know what you all think too!
Last Friday my daughter missed school, on Monday she returned and on top of her Monday homework, her teacher gave her a packet of 29 pages of math ditto's to do. There was no note attatched, just the packet in her homework folder.
I made my daughter do it all, missing cheerleading that night because I always tell her "School work first".........
The next day, she turned it in and the teacher told her she would only get credit for 5 pages because that is all they had to do...... Ok, now why couldnt she write that on the packet or send a note home?
That was just cruel to have her do all that work and tell her she wont get credit for it.......
I called the teacher, who has yet to return my call, but before I talk to her, I was wondering what you would do!
If she is an American public school teacher… Unfortunately, you will have to deal with her ignorance all year long and pray that your child gets a more intelligence teacher next year… We get what we pay for!!!

What the teacher will probably tell you is this...She told them how many pages to do verbally. Does your child have an agenda/planner type thing they write their assignments in? The teacher needs to make sure the students write down their assignments and/or send notes attached to the assignments. Good luck! Let us know what the teacher says when she returns your call.

She has a planner.....but she wasnt there they day that they did this. The teacher has a Homework folder for each child, she sends it home with them if they have homework. She may have told them verbally in class...but since she wasnt there she just stuck it in her homework folder!
You should take care of such issues with school right away!! I had bad teachers in school. The strange thing is that most of the times bad teachers, besides bad characters now nothing about their subjects too...I had a very big problem with teachers in school so i would urge you to help your child when needs it and also go to school and discuss the issues with the headmaster. If this doesn't solve anything, is there any chance to take your kid to another school?

Well, I plan on addressing the issue on Monday morning since she hasnt bothered to return my call.....But I took her out of public schools and sent her to this one so switching to another school is not the answer here!
I might add that this teacher taught my oldest daughter too who has been diagnosed bipolar.....She did have rough days with my oldest and now I kinda feel as if she is going to take it out on my little one! The problem here is she is the ONLY 3rd grade teacher at this school at this time!
I hope it was just a simple misunderstanding to be honest......Maybe she just forgot to add the note? But then telling her that she wont get credit for doing all that work is unreal!
I would send a written letter to the principal or counselor, whoever you think is best. The letter would contain what information you have said here, a little more detailed maybe.
I would also say in the letter the day and time you called the teacher, etc., and that she has not returned your call.
I did this with my son, long story but got results. Sent letter to the principal, and copied the counselor and principal.
The issue was way different, but I did get what I needed. This should be brought to the attention of the teacher, her neglect to give proper instructions, then be so rude about it.
