help I could really use some suggestions right now. It's been a week today since I quit smoking and I'm having a difficult time with the cravings. I have things to do that would occupy the time, however I'm losing focus and doing more procrastinating, then anything else. I want a cig just as bad as I don't want one. Arrgghhh!!!

Hang in there, don't give up what you have worked so hard for so far.

You can do it! Stash that money away and pick out a nice place for a vacation with the money you are saving! Or pick out something REALLY nice for yourself, and keep a picture of it nearby. Then when you want a smoke, go for the picture, or the vacation destination pictures.

Keep focus and ask God for help!

You have my prayers tonight.

Hhm ....... I've never smoked myself .... but as far as I understand ...... we generally need to replace one habit with another. So I congratulate you on doing so well and perhaps you need to go for a walk or do something to keep yourself busy until the craving passes. I wouldn't suggest eating because that's not a good substitute.

What kind of hobbies do you enjoy? Anything to keep your mind occupied and your hands busy?

As well - perhaps visit a website where they have info/support re: quitting smoking. There are sure to be a few on the internet. Remember - even if you stumble - pick yourself up and keep going in the right direction!

I have heard it takes six weeks to break a habit, take it one day at a time and don't give up.

... and further down the road, after this hellish and mind twisting experience, you'll think, you've conquered all. The cravings are few and far between, the weight you've gained in this attempt is starting to come off. Your lungs feel like they've reclaimed 20 years. Food becomes your newfound friend and that raspy laugh comes straight from the belly...

... don't ever fool yourself that you can control the evil weed, even for a second. You cannot... it is the nature of addiction and you, like me, like many others will begin the battle all over again if you let it deceive you even once...

I have heard that when the craving is bad that you should drink back a glass of water. Chug until the craving has disappeared.

In 2 weeks will be a year since I quit and I never thought I would make it so hang in there. What I found helped me was my thinking patterns. I started telling myself constantly that I was a non smoker and that when I was craving a smoke that I had made it this far and too start again would be stupid. Hang in there it does get easier.

I was undecided about whether I should quit smoing or lose weight...the latter won!

so far, I have lost 43 pounds and got another 50 to go.............

however, I have tried to kick the habit.....the patch, the gum and even some fake plasitc cigarettes (you insert the nicorette in it) that at least give you the "thought" that you are smoking but the outcome was NADA

after the weight loss, I have opted for laser therapy........apparantly, they lazer your ears, your hands and maybe some other part of your anatomy that can trigger smoking habits...confused

It is a bit costly, about $500.00 BUT on the flip side, it's 500 bucks well spent !!!

better that than another 50 packs of smokes.............

Good luck to you....I know it's hard cause I have tried ............. chew gum, take up eating sunflower seeds, not only does it keep your mouth busy but also, your hands.........

I quit smoking years ago. Just dropped it cold turkey.
I have a new habit now though. I have this bad habit of dating ugly women. Hopefully I'll find some super hotties on here. If you're a super hottie raise your hand. F.Y.I. if you have hair under your arms then please don't raise your hands.scold
