I am sorry you are having a hard time Red. What I had to learn a long time ago, and is still a process I have to work out...is not to let others have control over my emotions. Easier said than done, however. Breathe girl, just breathe!

Try this: When you find yourself with a depressed person and it's bringing you down, point at their feet and chuckle! After you've done this a few times, it actually gets to the point where you can't HELP but laugh. Then you let them in on the "joke" and go after someone else. The more people who get in on this, the funnier it will become. If someone takes offense, then let them in the "joke" early and explain what you're doing.
The idea behind this is that laughter will always help. Even forced laughter will become genuine after doing it a few times and realizing how silly it is.

I know what you mean, perhaps you need to remind yourself that you have a good life and you aren't the one who is depressed.. It is great to provide comfort to others, but sometimes you may have to put yourself first.

Do not and I repeat do not.......sweat the small stuff. Try doing things you enjoy and when you are around these people I know it is hard mentally not to let that rub off on you. But it is a conscious decision that each of us makes about what we allow to effect and control us. Get a headphone set and listen to lively, upbeat, inspiration music and drown out the negative brain waves....when you feel the negativity starting to creep in..sing a song in your head, tell yourself you are pushing it away, go for a walk and inhale some fresh air deeply and refresh your brain and you senses. Little things make a bigger difference than you might think.

Okay...so lately everyone around me, and those that I pretty much "have" to be around, has been/is majorly bummed out and depressed. I try to be upbeat, positive, and even limit my exposure when I can, but...it's starting to wear on me. Now, I'm finding myself getting all bummed out, depressed, and even irritated - because everyone else around me is!!!!!!!!
