Did/do you get any? Did/do you write love letters? Do you remember a special one or a special sentence out of one?

I never got any, so I can't start. I believe my bf's thought it is not 'in' to write love letters... ;o)

But you still have them, so they can't be that bad. Or else you would have thrown them away.

I was not talking about the men who wrote them, I was talking about something they wrote, something they probably even believed in, when they wrote it.

It's something you can look back and still smile at probably.. like I can look back on things that men did or said, even if they didn't write.

Just a memory, that's all.

I thought it would be interesting to hear what others get, read, write, think or whatever.

It is a different kind of poetry and if you call it a love letter, then it must have had love behind it, back when it was written.

I like to write my feelings in letters, and have done so many times. Relationships go bad, and that process alway takes two. It takes two to make it, and it takes two to break it. That doesn't change the beauty of the original letter. I could see how I could express my feelings to someone one day and for whatever reason those feelings changed in the future. I would hate to think that those letters I have written were wasted time! They are nothing more than the feelings expressed on that day, and like anything is subject to change. In a perfect world everything would work out every time and last forever. If I find someone I care about I will still try to express myself in a letter to them. All that shows is that I still have a heart and that previous relationship failures have not driven it from me completely.

Oh they are so much more than "just a memory"; the emotions behind them make them, or rather the person almost tangible... "Love letters" are a positive proff of once being, feeling totally alive; that Yes, I have "proof" that such a rare and beautiful thing actually happened to me! They become one one the most precious items that we will keep and savour all our lives, no matter what; even if we later marry a different person or persons; each batch has it's own niche in our hearts as well as in our proverbial hiding places in our homes.
I know each line in my heart; I don't need to re-read them; I remember each line that I wrote in those far off days when I waxed poetically...(my favourite Poets were Poe,Beaudelaire and Francois Villon), while in a melancholy stupor at the separations. The letters from "my Life's Love" are unfortunatly long gone(stolen, actually, but"zat, my dear iz anozer story..."
the ones from my late wife I keep them mostly for my children to one day discover and read and perhaps feel our emotions for each other. I can only hope so, as their mother died suddenly when they were both very young; they never had the chance to "know us together" as it were. C'est la vie...
AHHH, Munich, I miss that city..........

Thanks Ninive,
I have a hard time believing you never received one. I hope you receive one that not only is wonderful, but the sentiments expressed within are genuine and last a lifetime..

Thank you Rhythmatist,

I do hope I will be the inspiration for a love letter some day, but if not, well it wasn't meant to be. There are other things that a worth just as much.

I believe it would be wonderful to get one that is genuine, but I am in no rush.. there is enough time for that even if I'd get it at the age of 90.. I'd still love it.

Anyway.. It is good to know there are men out there who write love letters.. but what about the women?

I wrote a poem for one of my bf's.. but no real letter... He liked it very much.

So Ladies, are you writing love letters?
