Ah, i can relate to this one in a big way!!

To cut a long story short, i was dropped in a situation when i was young, sister abandoned her child on my parents!

I had to step in, look after him, stay at home and look after my mum when she became ill and died 5 years ago, then my father got cancer and then i looked after him as well.Dadly he died in july.

Theres help out there if with carer support etc, i just did it because it was the right thing to do.

If you need help and advice feel free to email me, i'll happily give my msn addy and hopefully the situaion will be easier than the one i had to face.

If you cant cope, don't feel guilty.....people have their own life to live, but there is help out there and you won't be on your own.

If you need help or advice just ask....i have the t shirt and the worry lines to prove it...lolcomfort

Funny, i was actually thinking about this, mainly because my brother moved out years ago and has his own family now and i cant see him looking after our mum but i can see her staying with me... i'll build her a granny flat!

So thats a absolutley, my mum has worked hard (and still is) all her life to bring me and my brother up so i think i owe her that much!

I looked after my dad for the best part of 16 years when he had a minor stroke at the age of 67 and it was never a question in my mind not to do so. Dad brought me and my two brothers up when mum left us in the very early 60s (which wasn't the done thing for a father to have custody of his kids back then). Dad did a terrific job and he was the loveliest man around, no one had a bad word to say about my dad. Sadly, my brothers never bothered very much, much to my dad's dismay. However, dad had a very contented and happy life, always smiling and joking right up until last year when he went to heaven at the ripe old age of 84. I miss him terribly and know he is looking after me and my children. I am off to Church this evening for a memorial service.

My "mum" - she can go to ........ what a very sad women she is. Five children and doesn't give a monkeys for any of us.

Love and Angel Blessings

Unfortunatly my dad is already in a nursing home, he suffered two major strokes within a few months, but if the situation arrives that i had to look after him, then of course i would.

I'd take care of my Mum too if i ever she needed me to, they both took care of me and I never wanted for anything.

I really have been thinking about this question lately. My father's health is not good and I live far from my parents. They were the most loving of parents when I was a child and I feel I owe them everything now that they are getting frail. I live far from them at the moment and realise that I need to move closer.

I have complete admiration for Denise and anyone who looks after their ageing parents!

Thanks for making us think about the question Manetho!

My Uncle (Dad's younger brother) is thinking of retiring from his job to take care of my Grandmother who is now 94. I don't know how he's gonna manage his family if he does so. But he has a lovely wife who willingly supports his decision.

I think if someone is blessed with a like minded life partner he can do lots of good deeds in this world.

Oh yes, I want to be like my Uncle.

Thank you Lilyy for your kindness.

Your heart will tell you what is the right thing to do for you and your parents. PLEASE do not feel pressurised by ANYONE to do what you don't wish to. People have a knack of making others feel guilty when they don't know the full situation.

I moved from London to Newcastle a couple of years back and although my dad was greatly upset at not being able to see me every day, he was very happy for me and understood. I still managed to see him every Bank Holiday and work holidays and other weekends, we spoke on the phone most nights. He was happy that I was happy and I am sure your parents would feel the same for you because THEY LOVE YOU. My dad moved up here and I had him close for one year before he went to see the Angels - lucky man!!!

Love and Angel Blessings angel
