Chewing gum, popsicles, or anything to keep your hands/mouth busy *giggles*
I chewed lots of gum, drank water, ate popsicles or those low cal italian ices when I had cravings (but you said no eating lol).
Actually walking and doing physical activities worked best. I worked on remodeling my living room when I was quitting and it kept my mind off it.

I used to beat up a pillow with my softball bat or go and workout, strenuously. The endorphins from exercise were just as addictive as nicotine but the exercise was good for me.

It gets easier. I was a serious smoker and stopped one New Year's Eve...8 years ago.hug

I also think it "mind over matter"! Here is how I quit "cold turkey", over 7 years ago! It ain't easy by no means...but with the right motavation...you can do it. If I can, anybody can...and I smoked at least 2 packs a day for 30+ years.

What I did, when I finally made up my mind, was to make a vow/promise to myself: "That if I put another cig between my lips, it was a sign that I would take either of my 2 X's back"....when I went to light a cig, I would think of that...and it made it a lot easier to put it down. It's also a good idea to have some cig handy...if you just really have to have one. I noticed that when I didn't have some where I could put my hands on...it made it harder. Just the idea that I refused because I choose to, not because I had none to smoke!

Good luck in your venture...thumbs up

John

I know its hard, but sounds like you've done a great job so far. I actually cut mine down by half today, and when it got bad I went for a short run....then came home and had onerolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing so that wasnt overly successful, but the weather was good for a run..got something out of it. Best of luck to you...

thank you john!!

that's a scary promise.......that might just make me quit smokin permanently.......i would never think of taking either of my exes back barf

for me right now if i had one handy right now i'd smoke it.......that's why there is none in the house. i know myself and i know when i'm stressing that i run to cigs to make it tolerable.....right now i could smoke 10 cartons probably lol

keep the ideas coming pplgrin

it sounds silly...but get those thin pretzel sticks and pretend like they are cigs...take a drag off them lol sounds silly but I found that it squashed the cravings alot.

allow me to introduce you to my Roger Miller Therapy! I would charge you for this...but I would have to give most of it to Roger Miller's family, anyway!

Rog, yes, I call him Rog. Rog had a song called "You Can't Roller Skate in a Buffalo Herd"! One of the lines is : All you gotta do is put your mind to it..knuckle down, buckle down, do it do it do it.

Try it! when you want a ciggie...knuckle down, buckle down, do it..do it..do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Luck,

Starlin
