I have tried the concept...

2 times with females who just wanted friends and thats all... then was angry because i would not go back on my word and offer benefits...

1 i greed to be friends with benefits... after the third time she was texting me her love and devotion.
I was not in love and told her, she hung around for a while then went off to find love...

so i don't think it matters what you chose, it is more about being prepared for more than you bargain for...

I think it can be a good arrangement if you both know where you stand at the beginning and stick to it without getting emotionally involved.

It also helps if you are madly in lust with your FWB and only like them as a friend just a little bit. That way you don't usually end up falling for them.

One FWB that I had was very "hot" and attractive and we got on ok and both had same sense of humour. After 2 weeks I was kind of falling for him until we played a computer game and I beat him and he sulked worse than what a 2 year old would!

I then realised that I could never put up with him as a serious boyfriend so I went off him the next day. I still kept him as a FWB for a year afterwards so at least he was good for something even if it wasn't winning at computer games.

Another FWB that I once had suddenly started saying he was falling for me. I just told him that wasn't what we'd arranged, also told him to clear off as he'd decided to changed the rules we'd agreed at the beginning agreeing that neither of us would get involved.

So anyhow yeah they can sometimes work out better than others

I think if you both know you want it and can handle it with just being friends, why not? Your both adults, if no kids, have at it. I couldnt do that but others could.
