as far as strange food, that isn't difficult: Scrapple!! Scrapple and eggs, scrapple sandwiches, Scrapple..Scrapple...Scrapple!. And please don't ask what Scrapple is...you don't want to know
Well, there's a Hungarian sausage called Horka which is made with rice & liver or rice and blood, that's right BLOOD (from a cow). The one made with liver (my fav) is a lighter color which is how to tell them apart. Yummy! It's almost impossible to find anywhere except at a genuine Hungarian butcher shop.
Another Favorite of mine is also a Hungarian pastry called Palachinta. It is a crepe with a sweetened cottage cheese filling or a prune jam filling called "Lekvar" sounds gross? Trust me it isn't.
Another Hungarian dish I love is called cabbage noodles.
Scrapple is a savory mush in which cornmeal and flour, often buckwheat flour, are simmered with pork scraps and trimmings, then formed into a loaf. Small scraps of meat left over from butchering, too small to be used or sold elsewhere, were made into scrapple to avoid waste. Scrapple is best known as a regional food of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland.
