i drive all the time and i see people doing it and almost causing wrecks and that is a hazzard and shoud be stopped

They should be disciplined very, very severely. Jeez, I can't text and change channels on my tv without screwing both up!
No, severe penalties...points on licences etc.
BUT! If you wanna be totally over the top about it, you could always hand them over for medical experiments along with philanderers.

I think if people need to talk on the phone..text..or what ever makes you take ur eyes off the road pull over to the side and do what you need to do..you take ur eyes off the road even for a second..tragedy can strike and you can never take that second back

I'm a motorcyclist, so a little militant on the subject. I don't feel I should be hurt or killed because someone wants to talk or text about Friday's party.

One of the drivers, delivering a building from the company I deal with ,was run off the road by a text messaging woman.
He and his truck landed upside down in the ditch, building back in kit form. He was only hurt minorly.
The woman was beheaded and her cut off right hand landed in the road with half of a text message on the phone still in her hand. Her nine year old daughter got to see it all and see all the after math as she stood on the side of the road afterward until help arrived.
ISN'T TEXT MESSAGING WONDERFUL!!!!
P.S. The driver quit his job.

A woman that was kin to friends, drove her car into and over a road divider. She was text messaging and missed her turn and tried to make it. She dead! and so is thier baby! The bills wiped out their money. The father and their little boy now have a hard future. She was in her twenties.

Over here there is a ban to talk on the phone while driving. The big problem is that you still find people driving while chatting on the phone. If they get caught they are usually fined for being on the phone while driving. I don't know if the ban covers texting or not.
