Hi,

I know of no one else to turn to - really need your help desperately!

Um, how long is a refrigerated ham good for? I cooked a half of one on Thanksgiving. It was, and still is, great. It's a lot for one person. It has always been refrigerated, covered in foil and a in a cooking pan with a plastic shield - I hate to waste it. And I'm a man. It's meat. It's there. I eat it.

The serious part is, of course, if it goes bad I could get sick and die, and then you'd miss me. Well, some of you would miss me. Okay, maybe one of you would miss me.

Please help this clueless bachelor. When should I toss it?

Thank you (in advance).

-Roberttip hat

Usually you can se the salt crystals appear on the meat (ham) when it starts going bad.

I would boil it and then make soup. Freeze some of it and take it out as you want to eat ham.
Homer Simson never died from that sandwich, you should be alright.

If it was cooked really well, you should be good for 2-3 more days for sure, maybe even a week. After that, you have to start inspecting closely. If some part looks or smells bad, cut that off and throw it away and eat the rest (it is meat, after all)!laugh

Well, if you were a Republican, you could donate it to a homeless shelter. Get the tax donation receipt and come out way ahead. applause

Thank you all so much. With these life-or-death situations, it's good to know I have friends. The timing is good, since I am pretty hungry...

I think I shall have one more farewell ham sandwich this evening. If I am not here tomorrow, well, you know...barf
