Funny Driven, I thought it was Nathan Gale's fault that Dimebag died as he was the one with the gun and also said that the band was trying to steal his identity and his lyrics.
I had to look for the article, but finally found it:
"His mother said Gale was obsessed with Pantera, a popular, Grammy-nominated heavy metal band, and had a drug problem in high school. She said he believed the band had stolen song lyrics from him, a statement also made by some of Gale's friends who have said Gale complained the band was trying to steal his identity."
In my opinion, if it wasn't for Phil Anselmo's comments to a rock mag about it being Dimebag's fault for Pantera breaking up..and stating that he needs to be hurt really, really bad had anything to do with it?
I don't share the same opinion. Gale was already freaked out. Stating that Pantera was stealing his own lyrics and his identity. Darrell was unfortunately probably the easiest one to get to at the time.
You can't do anything with an obsessed and crazy fan like that. Same situation with John Lennon. Mark David Chapman later admitted he went for John Lennon as he was the easiest one to get to. He originally said he thought about Paul McCartney.
Yeah, but if you watch the "Behind The Music" program, it shows this crackpot going across the stage right for Dimebag.
As for Chapman, everything I've seen about it says that he was focused on Lennon for years. Said he would have killed him earlier because a voice told him to.
