Hi my skype software tells me i have to buy credit to make certain skype calls some are free - 6-6 at night and weekends to land lines but there's a tariff of charges......confused

But I'm in the UK!! Its not that.... you must be trying to download it incorrectly. You need to select "free" download and just follow all the instructions online... it takes about ten minutes.

Are you calling a telephone or another computer? It's only free from one computer to another. There are charges if you call a telephone, wherther it's a landline or a cellular/mobile phone.

I've heard of one guy who just got a virus from downloading skype. Has anybody had a similar experience?
BTW, I got rid of 3 trogens that were infecting my PC with "StopZilla" but it cost me $20. for the program but it's good for a year. Besides ZLOB Trogen I also had,

I think the motto to stand by is never open zip files from anyone unless your absolutely sure the site is trusted and has a digital signiture.
I won't voice my opinion about norton antivirus...but like explorer....there are other products out there without known flaws to exploit.
Best advice, put the pc in the bin and by a Mac or Unix/linux based machine, and then all those problems seem to be ancient history!
If you want a rock solid Anti Virus.....i'd suggest F-Secure......though as i said i don't want to be accused of advertising or soliciting for business.....as i am no longer working within the industry as a buyer.
If you want and product recommendations i'd be happy to help, but not in the forums....just email me.
