Does anyone have any advice on how to move on after a long relationship? I feel that many replies to this post may help other people to see there is light at the end of the tunnel.

We have all had tough relationships, and people can learn from other peoples mistakes.

It's a case of taking your life one day at a time. I think so anyway. I found it very difficult after coming out of a long term relationship, & there was a point in my life in those early days of being single that I couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel. One thing I found to be helpful was writing a diary each day. All the thoughts that were going through my head I wrote them down. I also had a couple of very good friends who supported me through the worst.

Now, I am a much stronger person who has been to hell & back. I know I can move forward with no regrets. I'm also a happy person.

I came out of a 19 year relationship, its devastaing when it goes out the window like that, but life goes on and u realize that when u see everybody else who has been through the same and they are back in the saddle. I took a long deep breath and thought now its time for me to get on with it and live my life to the full now,,,,it did take me some time to to think that but jump back in there, they may have been the love of your life, but my ex really became my ex when he brought his now current girlfriend home my feelings for him were put on a back burner till i had the strength to put him completely out of my life...I'm happy with my life now, apart from being single, thats a hard thing to adjust to after being together for a long time, but im getting there.. take one day at a time, put things into perspective and move on...

just forget the bum. there are pleanty of nice guys out there.dont throw all your eggs in one basket mr right will come and so will the love.after all we all want a little love and attention in our lives.

Its hard to move on. You do get through it as my friends tell me, but its like a bereavment. The worse part is then seeing your ex with a new partner. My boyfriend of 5 years split with me 4 days before Christmas I was/ am still gutted to the max. I suppose websites like this can be a help as there are others out there going through the same thing right now. I suppose time is a great healer as the saying goes. One can only tell

Hi, i think you just have to take one day at a time, same as when someone dies, you got to get up force yourself to get back out there,
at some stage, and before you know you are fine again.
