I've got a pece of beautiful albino Deer hide. It seems like a very old one. It has had so many dust and stuff inside the hairy side, when i began to work on it.
So now i'm a tad puzzled ... How i can bring shines and softness to the hair? And if it is possible to use any vegy oil on a skin part?
I have, hidden in my posessions a plainsmans jacket - brought over reputedly in one of the wild west shows around 1850 or so - it is so treasured and wrapped in an old cherokee type blanket in my home
I have done some work on hides etc which is how I came into posession of the plainsman jacket
Ah! Ken I'm not expecting millions of advices to my scream for help ... not so many hunters are left nowadays. But i really want to keep that piece of Deer in a good shape cause it is a memory of my friend's father.
Happy and Smily Holidays to you, Ken! Enjoy every drop of your life in New 2008! No matter what it is going to bring it is still Life and Hopes.
Taxidermy (Greek for "the arrangement of the skin") is the art of mounting or reproducing animals for display (e.g. as hunting trophies) or for study. Taxidermy can be done on all species of animals. The methods that taxidermists practice have been improved over the last century, heightening taxidermic quality.
Taxidermists may practice professionally, for museums or as a business catering to hunters and fishermen, or as amateurs, such as hobbyists, hunters, and fishermen. To practice taxidermy, one must be extremely familiar with anatomy, dissection, sculpture, and painting, as well as tanning.
Taxidermy should not be confused with taxonomy, which is the study of scientific classification.
