Lieing is a defence mechanism innate in humans to hide our faults or bolster ourselves. Either way it sucks.

hmm.. if i were seeing someone for the first time or whenever until i know i am in a confirmed relationship or i know this is the person i want to move ahead with, i wouldnt change anything.

Well, at least you got a response. Maybe a lie is better than no response at all. I've gone out with men who seem to have a nice time chatting over coffee, I've emailed saying I enjoyed the chat and BOOM absolutely nothing from them. How rude is that????

maybe thay are not sure about thair feelings so that why thay dont write on thair profiles.
someone write me mail and we had great chat and connection and after that he told me that he has friend wich is ex but still in contact and see eachoter,blah blah thay met last year on this site...........and that wasnt on his profile eather.....................i felt same way.That he lied.....he did tell me that but late...........

Sounds like the "I'm seeing someone" is just an easy way of telling a guy you aren't interested.
Not a polite way, or an honest way.....
But in this internet environment, it's easy for folks to be insensitive because they never have to face anyone and say the words in person.

I think people sometimes think that a lie will spare ur feelings.. not true.. I get the impression though she was just trying to indicate that she is not into you.. but didn't want to say it straight..cowardice is the main motivation for lies.. unfortunately

why don't you ask the lady in question at the time? Maybe all of their answers would be a bit different.Until I meet a person face to face and spend time with that person, knowing that it has the chance of working in r.l., I will consider myself as single.

You talk, introduce yourself to someone---they respond, and either initially or a day or two later say "I'm seeing (or have been) someone and gonna try that out". Then of course you see their profile as the most active in existence on the same site and others. Still listed very much as single. This of course would be a profile demanding absolute and perfect honesty of others.
Transparent? Yes.
OK--I've had my successes and failures. Still looking for someone right, but that kinda behavior whether driven by fear or just plain rudeness, it's pretty annoying. AND YES, LADIES--I KNOW THERE ARE GUYS THAT PULL LOTS OF STUNTS TOO---I'M NOT ONE.
