Is life just survival of the fittest?

I mean, take a look around you? Is life really just survival of the fittest? The healthiest, the strongest, the most intelligent, the most beautiful, the most talented, the most wealthy, the most fortunate, etc . . .

Invert all of those attributes and what do we have? Someone who is going to excel in the world? His/her offspring? . . .

Is life just survival of the fittest - or to what degree is it, or on the other hand is it not? etc . . .

"Is life just survival of the fittest"?

No. Only for the animal kingdom. A man can walk around and achieve whatever with an artificial heart and a prosthetic limb, hardly fit but functional.

Well, in my opinion, it SHOULD be. This overpopulation problem could definitely benefit from a little bit of natural selection.
But, no, it's not.
It never ceases to amaze me that some of the dumbest people I know have the best of luck while educated, determined, good-hearted people struggle daily.

Not at all ! Survival of the fittest in evolutionary terms does not mean survival of the longest and sharpest in fang, strongest of arm, or anything like that. It means survival of the fittest, as in those most fit or most suited to their environment. It's actually completely different. The former is just a subset really.
A great white is superbly adapted to it's environment, I wouldn't fancy my chances, but dump one on a beach and no matter how big it's jaws (no pun intended) it'll be left gasping for air and a five year old kid could beat seven shades of crap out of it.
