Is it true? Are perception and vision totally unrelated?

Vision and perception.

Wow, one could write a book LOL

Vision and perception are totally entwined because they both are connected to a brain which has an effect on both.

is a blinds mans perception different because he lacks vision?

Or is the blind mans perception enhanced by not being visually stimulated ?

or is the perception of the blind man tainted by his vision

It seems that if 10 people witness a major happening, crime or whatever...there are 10 versions of what happened, if a video captured the event, it may not coincide with any of the 10 versions...So... Wha's happenin' ??? How do I KNOW?

Perception is the result of the processing and analysis of external stimuli, larglely delivered by one of the five senses, or any combination thereof. So yes, perception and sight are definitely related, though the latter is not a prerequisite of the former. Perception also comes in more subtle forms that draw upon instinct, intuition, natural and learned biases and prejudices, and psychic phenomena. A blind man's perception is as unique as any other person's. No two people percieve things from the same perspective, thus no two perceptions are identical.

But that's just me...no worries...carry on!

I wouldn't think they are not totally unrelated. Perception is the ability to "perceive" or the ability to recognize and interperate and discern things. All the senses have a role but I know in my case I get better perception by using my eyes.

OOps! I should of left the "Not" out of first sentence..lol

If someone couldn't see they would have to depend on the rest of the senses that can help them see just as powerful as eyesight. I dunno...just babbling..lol

I've been informed that one must choose between Vision and Judgment, that where Judgment is, Vision can not be, Judgment does seem to distort vision...D'ya suppose it may distort perception also???

Ahh maybe vision is what the eyes see and perception the interpretation of that by the brain. A newborn can see, yet has limited perception as the brain has not learned to recognize anything. The world is a jumble for it. As we grow we learn to see the world in the same way as everyone else. When we see a tree, we associate that image with the mental idea we have of ‘tree’. This is perception.

This means the possibility is there for us to perceive what the eyes see differently - if we could break the chains of our perception then a whole new dimension would be added to this reality.

It is said that our perception has been limited by environmental constraints and our need to survive in the material world, to be able to sense danger, find food etc - what we see is a fraction of what is out there. These are not my own ideas, but a great man, Aldous Huxley, once wrote a seminal book called ' the doors of perception ' - a good read indeed. Another great man, Carlos Castaneda talks a lot about perception in his books - again fascinating stuff.

Perception....necessitated by the constuct of "conciousness" the decision to "process" reality with our mind instead of accepting the Vision of Universal Mind....... necessary to support the illusion of "Separation" required by the "Terminally Unique"?

or not....I still prefer being "Happy" to "Right". Since "Right" is such a subjective term.....
